As the warm days of summer start to wind down, we hope you had a wonderful season out on the water, enjoying everything your lake home and community has to offer!
With the quieter months ahead, autumn and winter are the ideal times to evaluate your digital presence. Starting your Lakekit site improvements soon will give you plenty of runway to plan, design, and implement updates well before the next summer season kicks off.
Whether you are looking to refresh your homepage, organize records and documents, update your posted lake management plan or streamline member updates, getting a head start makes all the difference. Volunteers are ready to help remind you how to make your updates. If you have any questions on how to do something please visit the Members Only page for lesson information or use our online User Forum to ask questions.
And if you need to contact our volunteer trainers to ask a question or seek guidance on any issues, please use the Contact Us form on the Lakekit.net site. That form is sent to everyone on the Volunteer team, and someone will get back to you.
Save the Date: WCAG 2.1 Compliance Webinar
Accessibility ensures every member of your community can access critical information on your site. Join us for a dedicated session on making your website compliant with modern accessibility standards.
Date: Tuesday, October 7, 2026
Time: 7:00 PM Central
Topic: Meeting WCAG 2.1 Accessibility Standards
Important Note for Lake Districts: Under Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), local special districts are legally required to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA web accessibility standards by April 26, 2028. Public bodies face specific regulatory requirements to ensure all digital materials, including meeting agendas, minutes, voting records, and public notices, are accessible to individuals with disabilities. Addressing large archives may take time, making this webinar an essential roadmap for board members and Lakekit web administrators to get started early.
Mark your calendars! Registration details and the webinar link will be shared in an upcoming update.
