Jetpack Connection
The Jetpack plugin provides many modules to enhance website features. A popular feature is to obtain statistics about site traffic at Dashboard -> Settings. Some modules, such as the Downtime monitoring, also at Dashboard -> Settings, require a wordpress.com account. WordPress.com is a for-profit entity that works in partnership with wordpress.org a non-profit entity which lakekit.net is tied to.
These instructions show how to disconnect and connect Jetpack to a lakekit.net site.
- Log into your site using your administrator username and password.
- Disconnecting Jetpack
- Visit Dashboard -> Jetpack -> Dashboard
- Scroll down to the Connections area
- Click “Manage site connection”.
- Click the Disconnect button.
- A message will appear that you have disconnected from Jetpack.
- Connecting Jetpack.
Note: you should be able to use most features, but not all, even if not connected with a wordpress.com account.- Visit Dashboard -> Jetpack.
- Click the Setup Jetpack button.
- Click the “Continue with WordPress.com”.
- Option to create a wordpress.com account.
- Enter email address, username, and password.
- Click “Create your account”.
- The next page should show that you are connecting to the wordpress.com account that you logged into.
- In the next page scroll down to find the Jetpack Free box and click “Start for free”.
- Click Jetpack -> Dashboard and scroll to the Connections area.
- On the next page scroll to the Connections area.
The Site connection box should indicate the site is connected.
The Account connections box should indicate connected to a wordpress.com account.
- Option to continue with an existing wordpress.com account
- Scroll to and click “Already have an account? Sign in”.
- Enter username or password and click “Continue”.
- Enter password and click “Log in”.
- In the next page scroll down to find the Jetpack Free box and click “Start for free”.
- Click Jetpack -> Dashboard and scroll to the Connections area.
The Site connection box should indicate the site is connected.
The Account connections box should indicate connected to a wordpress.com account.
- Option to continue without a user account
- Scroll down and click “Continue without user account.
- In the next page scroll down to find the Jetpack Free box and click “Start for free”.
- Click Jetpack -> Dashboard and scroll to the Connections area.
- The Site connection box should indicate the site is connected
- The Account connections box should indicate no connection to a wordpress.com account
