If we had a commercial about backing up your website it would be “Go Lakekit, and Leave the Back-ups to Us!” We back up all sites on the Lakekit multisite regularly.  Our system uses Updraft Plus to make incremental backups of everything once a month, weekly for pictures and documents, and daily for posts and the database. Users do not need to activate Updraft Plus or backup their sites locally.

As for protection against malware, the biggest risk is through plugins.  We maintain about 70 plugins to support Lakekit’s features, including Elementor.  All of these plugins are updated automatically when an update is available from the plugin’s producer.  The multisite monitors for this 24/7 and takes care of the updates in the background. Also, twice a year we review all plugins for ones that may not be updated or otherwise become a risk for malware.  We use a four-factor rating system, which assesses whether a plugin is outdated and risky. We drop and/or replace plugins that are rated poorly.

We may have to ask you to make some site changes from time to time if we determine it is advisable to drop a plugin being used by your site (and other users too). If that ever happens we give users plenty of advanced warning. We hope this explanation gives you some comfort in the efforts we take in the background to keep your site safe and backed up.
